What does a principal do? Mr. Plaut's busy day includes making sure the school is safe, getting to know his students meeting with teachers and parents, and caring about everyone in the school.

What does a teacher do? She teaches! But in this book we see that Mrs. Shlansky also listens, and demonstrates and cooks, and helps her students all day long.

What does a librarian do? Mrs. Rodriguez helps the students choose books they will like, orders new books, arranges cultural events, and meet with their teachers so she knows what students are learning.

What does a gym teacher do? Mr. Miller cares about his students' health, teaches new games and skills, works with other teachers in the school, and much more.

What does a nurse do? A lot! Mrs. Geary takes temperatures, checks for head lice, calls parents, talks to teachers and listens patiently to students who do not feel well.

What does a custodian do? Everything! Bus mostly he keeps the building clean, orders supplies, and befriends the many children who attend his school.
